PC-3000 Portable III SSD System. How to Recover Data and Evidence from NVMe Drives. Silicon Motion Family (SM2260, SM2263XT, HPH8068).

The NVMe Solid State Drives are becoming more and more popular nowadays. According to IDC statistics, the PCIe SSD market share will grow to a 61,4% in 2020. At the same time, the SSDs based on the M.2. PCIe NVMe interface present a great challenge for everyone who tries to recover data and evidence from these storage media devices. Some of the specialists have semi-solutions to get access to at least healthy drives, some engineers just abandon such tasks.

But it’s 2020, and ACE Lab is here to deliver you the world’s first solution for data and evidence recovery from both healthy and damaged NVMe SSDs. The PC-3000 Portable III SSD/Ultimate Systems and the special universal M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD/M.2 SATA SSD adapter included in the delivery kit are a result of years of experience and research that allows everyone to successfully work with such drives in the Techno Mode.

PC-3000 Data Extractor RAID Edition. Smart and Easy Method To Recover Data from BtrFS File System

Hello Everyone!

BtrFS is not just an advanced file system. It’s a standard file system with a RAID configuration combined.

Data recovery from BtrFS is a difficult but interesting process.  And with Data Extractor RAID Edition, you can forget about such words as the file system metadata, the XOR integrity, or even RAID block size. All you will need is to find the drives with enough free space to save data from RAID.

Before we dive into the BtrFS data recovery process, let’s look at the BtrFS structure itself.

PC-3000 Portable III: Great Tool! The NVMe Support! What Else Is Good?

The PC-3000 Portable III perked up the world of data recovery!

It’s been several weeks since we’ve launched our new product. In that time, we’ve received a ton of questions, seen a good share of discussions, and took notice of quite a few hasty conclusions. Some questions are repeated over and over again. That’s why we’ve decided to answer some of the most frequent ones.

The main thing to be clarified: the NVMe support is not the only new feature of the PC-3000 Portable III!

Many engineers decided that the PCIe NVMe SSD support is what the new product all about. Maybe because such a solution was highly anticipated as the demand for the NVMe recovery is growing and will continue to grow. Surely, the NVMe support is a very important feature, and no other tool in the world can recover data from damaged M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs. But it is not the only component of the new PC-3000 Portable III.

So, let’s dot the I’s and cross the T’s!

3 Ways to Find the Lost Partitions

People who ask for data recovery services often request to recover data from a “lost” partition. The reasons for such loss can vary a lot: drive malfunctions, unsuccessful attempts to disk space allocation, viruses, etc.

Today we will try to find out why we cannot see the data in such cases and how we can recover it with the PC-3000 hardware-software systems. The article will especially benefit those of you who just start to make their first steps in data recovery.

PC-3000 SSD. Sandisk Ultra II, SSD Plus and WD Blue (Marvell CPU)

Hello friends!

Marvell-based controllers are amongst the most complex in the data recovery field. The thing is Marvell company produces only controllers with templates of drive PCB design, basic (default factory) firmware and recommendations on how the SSD should work.

That’s why every SSD manufacturer uses his own PCB design and every engineer writes his own firmware. In such an environment even two completely identical 88SS1074 controllers from two different drives have a different number of commands, different Techno Mode options, and translator micro-program. This all makes a research and recovery process a very complicated endeavor.

Beginning with the PC-3000 6.6x and PC-3000 SSD 2.7.11 updates,  it became possible to work with some Marvell-based drives that go into BSY state after power on!

PC-3000 Flash. Virtual Image Based on the File System

Hello friends,

When working on a flash case, the image building is usually a final step of recovery. After all preparations were applied, we are ready to get the File System with a complete folder structure. Usually, to sort blocks and build a final image we use two ways:

  • Image building with Translator (based on translator tables);
  • Image building with Block Number (based on SA block marker);

PC-3000 Flash 7.3.x adds a new, the third way of image building. We call it “Virtual Image Based on File System”.

When it might be used?
